One of the first noticeable features upon launching into Napeague Harbor is the color of the sand along the shoreline. It's an interesting shade of red or copper, thus making this area even that more unique. Paddling around the perimeter of the harbor, one might notice that it can get windy at times - attracting windsurfers which one might be able to observe. There's a creek on the western edge that leads to a small pond and can be navigated to if water levels are high enough. Note that it's recommended to paddle the harbor a few hours before or after high tide.
